药用辅料，防腐剂；苯甲酸可以制作苯甲酸水杨酸软膏，苯甲酸水杨酸软膏是以苯甲酸、水杨酸为主要原料，加入羊毛脂、黄凡士林制成的药剂。其中，苯甲酸与水杨酸联合，可以治疗成人皮肤真菌病，浅部真菌感染如体癣、手癣及足癣等疾病。
