药物用途：
苯酚能使细菌细胞的原生质蛋白发生凝固或变性而杀菌。浓度约0.2%即有抑菌作用，大于1%能杀死一般细菌，1.3%溶液可杀死真菌。本品稀溶液可使人体感觉神经末梢麻痹，产生局部麻醉作用，可止痒。苯酚对组织的穿透性强，易从皮肤黏膜及创面吸收，故不宜大面积长期使用。酚软膏（2%）用于皮肤防腐止痒。
